Read This First! Everything you need to now about spectator day!

The Spectator Day is intended to be a taste of Hynafol. We hope that you will join us for a day of meeting people, shopping at our vendors, breaking bread alongside other denizens of Hynafol and learning what this event is all about.

There are many things you can do as a Spectator and some that you cannot. We would invite you to:

  • Watch the Battle! Our largest battle of the year will take place and you are invited to gather, cheer on the participants and see it for yourself.
  • Watch the tournaments that will take place all day long: Maceball (which is like capture the flag with swords), Fencing, various armored tournaments with many participants and much more.
  • Observe the many roleplay scenes, ceremonies and festivities.
  • Enjoy a refreshing drink at the pub!
  • Grab a meal at the food vendor on site.
  • Tour the grounds and see the many camps our members have setup.
  • And most importantly: talk to people who have been playing all week and learn!

The spectator pass does not allow you to:

  • Participate in combat of any kind: battles, tournaments and even sparring in town are not permitted.
  • Stay past 9p.m.
  • Camp overnight

You will also be required to be in costume for the duration of your stay. Hynafol has costuming requirements and we expect all attendees to respect our dress code. Even Spectators!

You can read our costuming standards under our Decorum Guid here.

In General a few rules to abide by:

  • Modern clothing is not permitted: jeans, t-shirts, sunglasses, “halloween costumes”, cosplay and other attire will not be allowed. You must come dressed appropriately or you may be refused entry.
  • Phones, cameras and other modern devices are forbidden. They should be put away, silenced and never taken out in public.
  • All drinks and food should be in medieval containers. Carrying around cans, bottles and other modern drink ware breaks our decorum rules. Bring a mug and pour your drink into it!
  • Real weapons, even if peace-tied, will not be allowed at the event. Larp Weapons made of foam and latex are the only appropriate items to bring with you.

We know that some of these rules will be very different from other events held in the same space. We hope that you will work with us to create an event that is unique and truly immersive!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at info@hynafol.com if you have specific questions.

Next Steps for an amazing Grand Gathering

Step 1: Join the Discord!

Discord is a message board platform that Hynafol utilizes for the majority of communication, planning and organizing. On our Discord you’ll interact with other members, potentially join a guild, and begin to plan your adventure… and of course ask all the questions you have!

Step 2: Plan Your Gear!

Shirt and tie is not an option! You’ll need 5 days of medieval clothing and accessories to participate in Hynafol. You must be in medieval clothing for the duration of the event. Be sure to read our Decorum Guide to learn about what’s allowed and what is not! Click Learn more!

Step 3: Event Insurance

Hynafol does not offer refunds for tickets and packages purchased. Please read our Refund Policy  and Terms and Conditions before proceeding.

However, we have partnered with Fanshield Event Ticket Insurance to all you to purchase a policy that covers your needs. Please click “Learn More” to visit the Fanshield Website in order to purchase your Event Ticket Insurance.

Step 4: Learn More!

Hynafol is a huge and ever growing world full of stories, lore, history and traditions. Most of those stories are told betweeen players, guilds and kingdoms… but we’ve got you covered to get started. Make sure you take a look and read through our Lore & History Guide!

Step 5: Make Friends

Hynafol is a social event: no phones, no technology, just good old fashioned medieval battles, quests, politics and most importantly friends. You’re going to spend the vast majority of your time talking to other people. So dive into the community, explore the guilds, join one, join a religion and start participating!
