[00:01] Host: All right, everyone, welcome to the Zoom call for Hainfall on March 11th, 2026. And tonight we are going to talk about the codex, the trials codex. Couple of announcements before we start, just a couple of fun-ish housekeeping things. Obviously we’re going to be talking about the March expedition. If you are going to attend, small favor to our team. If you can, we’d love if you bought your ticket before the day before. That would greatly help us. Roughly 40% of you that attend our monthly events buy your ticket the day before. So it’s a little drum I’m beating. The 20% sale is now off for March, but it would still help us greatly. So if you plan to be there and you have the cash Consider buying your tickets sooner rather than later. Speaking of 20% off, the April and May expeditions are still 20% off. So if you want to save yourself a handful of cash go and get your tickets soon. May still has payment plans available, so May is a bit more expensive because it is longer. It runs Friday through Monday, and so that means Saturday and Sunday are full days of Haina Fall, insanity, and fun. And May is going to be big. Our average ticket sales, it is trending way above normal. We’re gonna have live music every night. We’re bringing back the amazing tent village vibes that we had last year. There are flushing toilets on site there. There’s also real showers, which we’ll make sure have plenty of propane and are heated this year. There is river Access, which was a bucket load of fun last year, and we’ll be having long breaks in the schedule in the afternoon so that you can cool yourself off in the May heat of Texas. Early arrival and late departure are included with the price, so if you want to show up Thursday and stay till Tuesday And make it a grand long adventure. Now there’s no programming on Thursday or Tuesday of any kind, but if you just want to camp and hang out with your besties, then you can do that. You don’t want to miss it. May’s gonna be awesome. And then small property update, we’ve had lots of people send us lots of emails and messages, so just want to give an update. We will have a And sorry, an updated schedule with workdays. So if you want to come out and help us with the property, we will have that up and available very soon so you can RSVP on the days in which you want to come out and put some labor in. And then lots of you have asked or offered, I guess to donate your talents and your expertise and stuff like that. And so we’re putting together a form that we can collect your info, and then when we hit that particular stage where we might use your expertise, we will have your information, what you’re good at, and what you know how to do, and then we will contact you. So we’ll have both those things ready soon. And then we don’t have any construction update, so I’m just trying to say this, so that everybody hears it. We are still in the planning stages, right? So we’ve got to plan out the end before we can do the beginning, so that we do it right. We only have one shot at constructing a medieval village, and so we want to do it right and take our time. So you’ll just have to hold tight until we do that. Once we do, we will unveil a plan and a way that you can be involved, and we’ll get that out to you.

[03:47] Host: Kind, did you have a question on some of that?

[03:52] Kind: Yeah. First off, for those of us who are volunteering for a ticket, I guess it’s already said and done?

[03:52] Host: Yeah. Kind, you asked us this last time. All you have to do is fill out the form and sign up for your shifts, and then you are good to go, brother.

[03:52] Kind: Yeah, I already did that, so I’m already approved for it. I’m just wondering because you said about buying your tickets to reward doing that, right?

[04:18] Host: Right. I’m talking to all 58 people on the call. You’re volunteering and you’re good to go. We talk about that kind of stuff all the time.

[04:18] Kind: Very cool. I was just a little bit confused by that.

[04:18] Host: All right, thank you. No worries. You’re welcome.

[04:35] Host: All righty, and then, yeah, onto the March codex, so I’m gonna walk you through it. Taylor and I will tag team answering your 1 million questions about sigils and quests and we will try and help you untangle the knots. So that nobody is confused, but this is a bit of a different event than we have done in the past. We specifically wanted to make a very quest heavy, quest-based event. We wanted it to be something that you can do with your friends, and get after all the questy type adventures. So You’ll be making squads of 5. There are lots of different kinds of activations and quests. So if you are like, oh man, they’re all gonna be combat, or they’re all gonna be brainy puzzles rest assured that is not the case. There’s lots of different kinds of stuff that can keep you busy all day long, no matter what your You know, flavor of Hainfall is, that’s one of the things we really pride ourselves in, is that there’s lots to do for every kind of person that wants to come to the event. We try and make everything for everybody. We will have two squad versus squad battles so we’ll be releasing those closer to the to the event date, just like we have been doing the last couple of events. So those are not included tonight, but they are going to be pure and utter mayhem, and you’re gonna love them. We’re introducing something we’re calling sigils, so we’ll walk you through that, but your character can take on. A I’m not even sure what the right word here is to use it, but you get a little bit of extra power. You get to do some cool things as you go through the trials, and you’ll really like those. They’re really fun. You can use them to be exceedingly strategic. And then we’re having a lot of the activations, which are some of the quests, are gonna be led by the houses. So, if you’re in a house and you’re leading some of our activations, thank you in advance. A lot of houses stepped up in a huge way, and we’re really excited for that. We will have two live bands on Saturday night which is going to be very exciting. They’re starting earlier, and they will end at midnight, so that everybody can go to sleep if you so choose but they’re, it should be very fun. We’re adding more parking space so our first run at the property, we were a little short on parking. We did the math. We estimated an additional amount of cars based on the space we had traditionally used at Valkyrie and we ran out, so we’ll have extra. And we will have more to do than anyone can possibly do at this event. So it’s going to be very fun. We’d love to have you there and now we will hop on over to the Codex here.

[07:20] Host: So here it is. If you haven’t seen it is available here on the page. All you have to do is scroll down, click this handy dandy codex button, and then you’ll be good to go. So here she is And I’m not going to read you the narrative cause you’re all smart and literate and can do that for yourself, but it is very exciting. And the trials begin. So information, in case you missed it, we have moved locations. So we are now at the future home of Haina Fall, which is as yet unnamed. For now, it’s just Haina Fall, and that’s at 3168 US 290. So it is literally next door to the fair. So if you’re planning to go to the fair, and you’re gonna camp over there, and then you wanna hop next door and come see us, you can definitely do that. We have updated our day of cash prizes, prices, not prizes to make it simpler and easier, but it is, so it is slightly more expensive, but that’s just because that means we have to carry less cash to make a change. Please do bring exact change if you are going to pay in cash at the door. Some contact information here. And then some repeat of the same information. We do have lodging on the expedition for sale. So if you do not have lodging for yourself and you’d like to stay in one of our canvas medieval tents we do have shared tent spaces for 12729, or if you want to rent a tent all by yourself, you can do that for 33115. This would be the same price. If you wanted to have two people in there, we’ll give you the option of either 2 standard sleeping cots or one queen-sized cot. So that is on there now, and we will have that available for you.

[09:08] Host: On arrival and gates, one thing to note is that if you are like me and you like to use Apple Maps, do not use that to get to this location. It takes you down Old Potato Road, and you cannot get there from Old Potato Road to the location. So use Google Maps on your phone for accurate directions. It should be. Very easy to get there. If you are bringing a minor, or everybody has to sign a liability waiver, if you have already signed one digitally, we do not need you to sign one. Some of you have signed it multiple times now. Once you’ve signed it once, you are good to go. So only if this is your first time and you haven’t been to the new location, do you need to sign that. But it is there for you to sign, and then, of course, you can sign it the day of when you get there. Everything else is the same, so when you get there, you’ll check in. There is a front there’s a check-in booth near the front gate, have your ID and your ticket ready for scanning. And then you will head to the ledger, just like always now, and that is where you will get your you’ll be able to verify your character information. If you don’t have one yet, we’ll help you make one. You have all you need is a character name. If this is your first time, it is not scary, it is not frightening, and then you will receive your starting currency and your citizen card. Arrival times are the same and have not changed. Same thing with parking. Cars must be parked in the parking lot and there is no fee for parking. A couple of other things. We do have a waiver if you are bringing a minor child with you. So that’s 0 to 17. You do have to sign the waiver there. It’s linked there, super easy to do. And then just a friendly reminder that if you are bringing one of your children, or any of your children, you do have to supervise them the entire time. Hana Fall is a family-friendly place but we do not have children’s programming of any kind at this time. So make sure that you are observing, watching, and taking care of your children. Parents usually do an exceedingly good job of that. That is something we want to talk about all the time is that keep your children with you, and cause it is, you know, there’s fighting all over the place and it’s you know, we don’t want anybody to get hurt or lost, wander off into the woods.

[11:27] Host: Next all weapons in combat. So we have mandatory weapon check and a safety briefing for all players before combat. So that is on the schedule. Make sure you attend it. We do recommend that you wear eye protection if you’re going to participate in the combat. So that is, any kind of safety glasses are totally fine at Hanefall. And we highly encourage you to do that. We do have a photography and tech policy essentially all photography and videography is done by the Heinef team and we give a special approval to certain individuals to do that and they try to do it in an unintrusive way. To make it as immersive as possible, but people should not have out their phones, cameras, or any other kind of personal recording. Keep your, keep your technology hidden, put away, and in your private areas, tent and whatnot. We will have a food vendor on site so Rocco’s will be back to serve wings and fries and drinks and then we are also this close to having a kind of a breakfast brunch vendor as well, that specifically specializes in really good breakfast eats. So, hopefully we’ll have some more information for you on that very soon. And then everything else is standard. There is no shuttle for this event, and there’s all the rules. Some notes here on registration and checking in with the ledger, so check that out. None of this has changed from the last event. So all camping is primitive DIY camping. There is water available, there are chemical toilets there are no showers at the Haina Fall location. And then RVs and trailers are permitted but generators need to be kept quiet, and of course if your generator is not, then we’ll come by and ask you about it. And then here’s some, we have some safety and code of conduct. We do have a code of conduct. We do take it super seriously. We do go over it at the new player orientation for everybody. If you are new and you haven’t read it over, please do so. Haina Fall is a place for everyone, and we want to. Keep it that way. One of our policies is we don’t want to ruin the magic for other people so make sure that you have read that over and you are familiar with it, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask us. It is not shameful to not know how something applies, or if you have a question about the code of conduct we want to be very open and honest and transparent about it. We’ll never make you feel stupid for asking a question about any of that. All right, next we have created a Haina fall combat test. So you can see that here, if you click on that link, it will take you there. There’s a video to watch, there is a complete PDF that has all of our combat rules, and then there is a fun test. Last time I checked, every single person that had taken it had passed the test, so good job to all of you if you’ve taken it. We highly recommend that you do that, and we will begin in the future figuring out how to require you. It does say you’re required to watch it here, and that is our policy, but we will start implementing that into whether or not you are allowed on the battlefield in the very near future, because we do take safety very seriously. We want everybody to be on the same page as Haina Fall gets larger and there’s more people. We want to make sure that everybody understands the combat rules, plays safe, and has lots and lots of fun. So there’s the video, and then again, come to the safety briefing.

[15:01] Host: And then, yeah, and then we’re onto the schedule. So the Friday schedule is our pretty standard schedule, so you’re allowed to check in and begin arriving at 12 noon. If you are coming for archives training, that will be at 4 p.m. And then the ledger and emporium open from 4 to 8. Weapons check will be open from 4: 30 to 7 on Friday. The counting house opens or no, the counting house training is at 5: 00 p.m. , So if you want to learn how to work in the counting house. That begins at 5, and then the county house is officially open from 6 to 88 to 90 is our new player orientation, so that will be in our big tavern tent. Please come to that if it is your first time, and we will walk you through everything Hafall as in as much detail as we possibly can in 60 minutes. It is fun, it is interactive. We try to get you up and on your feet and LARP before you even realize that you’re LARP. So we’ve been doing that, and it is very, very fun. And then the opening ceremony. Begins promptly at 9 o’clock and that is where we will welcome you and give you a narrative introduction. At this point, costumes are required so that is officially kind of when the event and the experience begins. So come dressed and ready to go to that. It will be very fun and very exciting. And then from 9: 30 to 10: 00, we have our court meetings. So if you have not chosen a court on the Hainafall. Com, you can find many links that will lead you to go choose a court. Go read through them, pick one, and then you will attend a court meeting with your court liaison where they will give you a little bit more information about the court’s take and perspective on the issue at hand, and a little bit of rumor-ish stuff that you can start doing. And then sorry, there’s a fire alarm going off in my house, but I, nobody is dying, so it’ll be fine. And then sorry, I lost my train of thought. So after the court meetings, we’ll have two meetings simultaneously. So we’ll have the guild introductions. So if you are interested in joining one of our guilds, which are kind of your occupation slash what you do to kind of earn money and have like, you know, some larger purpose in the event, so there’s lots of different guilds to choose from, and you can check that out on the expedition page. And then we’ll also have a table set up during that same time to help you form a squad. So if you are coming to the event and you’re like a squad, I don’t know anybody else, this is really overwhelming. If you just come to that meeting, we will help walk you through how to, or I can’t talk. We will make sure that you find a squad. So we will help, we’ll literally help people put them together based on their sigils and what they want to get after, and we’ll talk you through it, and we’ll put together squads so that nobody will be left out of having a squad, so they can get after it all weekend long if they want it. And then the bard showcase has been moved to Friday, so that will go from 10: 30 to midnight. So we’ll have live music and performances from the bards of Hainfall, which will be a really fun way to kick off the weekend. And then moving on to Saturday all the service hours are listed here, so if you’re like, when do I go to the Three Crowns counting house, and when are the archives open, it is all right here, right at the top so make sure you check that out. If you’re not coming until Saturday weapons check is from 8 to 8: 45, and then the combat safety meeting is also from 8: 15 to 8: 45. So if you are coming And you have not had your weapons checked, you need to come to the safety briefing, and then we can also check your weapons at the same time. We will get you taken care of, but this is where we’ll walk through everything that you need to know to have fun and battle all day long.

[19:00] Host: And then we will kick off our first skirmish at 9 a.m. So we have moved it earlier for this expedition, so that we can fit in so much stuff, which you will see in just a second. And then at 10: 00 a.m. To noon, the first trial will begin, and then we will have a break for lunch. During lunch, we always have an exhibition baseball match, which is always very exciting, so check that out while you watch. And then trial two will happen between 1 and 3 p.m. And there will be lots of stuff going on all throughout the village. . And then we have something called an all trial, which we will release to you later but that will happen all throughout the village. Skirmish too will happen later in the afternoon, and that will go from 4: 15 to 5 and then we will have a tournament from 5 to 6, so it is the sharpshooter tournament this month, so that is archery. Very exciting, and you can sign up for it later on in the document. We’ll have a dinner break from 5 to 6. Trial 3 will happen from 6 to 8, and then from 8: 30 to 9, we will have our final court meetings with your liaisons, where you will wrap up the weekend, and then the closing ceremony from 9 to 10. And then in the evening we have two things that happen at the same time. We have player led activities so these are things that houses lead, and there’s all kinds of them, and those will also be released in an addendum to this later in the month, and then from 10 to midnight, we will have Norden Folk and the Hobo Hobgoblins, Hobogoblins, I think I’ve messed that up many times now. Anyway, same band as last time to end the evening, they were really awesome. They played some really fun songs. And then on Sunday, pretty standard, 9 to 11, pack out and goodbyes the services are open.

[20:51] Host: From 9 to 120, so that’s the counting house and the ledger, if you have any final deposits or housekeeping things you need to do either of those places, and then by 120 everybody should be off the premises. All righty. And then side, court, house stuff is all pretty standard here and you can check that out, and then this is the expedition pay, so everyone will receive a silver piece and one citizen card. All quests, all completed requests will receive a reward of either resources and or coins, and then for the tournament, the top 3 placers will receive. A ratio of the entry fees and a prize from the three crowns counting house. So, come. Sharpshooter your heart out and do that. Small note here on volunteering, I say this every time but it’s really important. So Hainfall is run on volunteers. So we rely on the community to help us bring and make the magic come to life. So if you are new. Do not be afraid to volunteer. A lot of people have made some of the best connections and best friendships that they have at Heine Fall and have found purpose and found a house and all kinds of things, and it’s been a great entryway into becoming more involved in the community by volunteering. So you can sign up by filling out this form, and then we will send you next steps after that. And there are all kinds of things to do from, you know, from parking lot attendant to working in the Three Crowns counting house. There’s all kinds of awesome opportunities, and if you don’t know how to do it, that is OK, we will teach you. It is really very fun and very simple to do, so check that out. We’d love to have you help make us make Hand of Fall happen. There’s a note here on archives training. So if you are interested in doing that, make sure you read that. We have some notes here on accessibility and our pet policy. And then another reminder here about media, photography, and technology. Small note here on weather Hainfall is rain or shine so make sure you come equipped and prepared for March days and nights. It’s March in Texas, so.

[23:09] Host: Look up the weather. You never know what you’re gonna get. All right, and then we are on to quests and sigils. Taylor, do you want me to read through this and go over it, or do you want to hop in and take it over from here? It is up to you.

[23:09] Taylor: You’re welcome to read over it since you have the screen sharing, and then I’ll answer any questions people have about that section.

[23:09] Host: Awesome.

[23:34] Host: OK, so after the opening ceremony and the court meetings, the trials will begin in earnest. Every trial completed throughout the day contributes to the larger fate of Ron Go Mignad, which we shall henceforth and forevermore call Ron, because that is what it was called in the stories. It is called Ron. So if you don’t like that, too bad, it’s already been written. That is the name of Mordred spear, and he doesn’t have it, so y’all are supposed to go get it. So no single quest stands alone. Every success and every failure matters. All right, so when you get to the events at the ledger, you are going to choose a sigil for your character, and you’re going to be given a physical card for the weekend, and you can only choose one sigil. So even if you belong to multiple guilds, you can only carry one sigil. Your schedule will be represented by that physical card, and you need to keep it with you. So put it in your pouch, keep it safe, keep it secret. Yes, I said that backwards. Details and rules for how you use your sigil. Will be printed directly on the card and then you will just simply follow the directions for each trial and make sure that it, you know, you follow the rules for what it says. And then sigils fall into three categories. So before I read them all over, I want to explain the categories. So there are essentially starter sigils. So these are open to anybody. Anybody and everybody can pick one of these. There are guild sigils you must be a guild member to choose one of these. So, if you do not if you want to be part of one of, if you want one of these sigils, but you are not part of the guild, then go join it on Friday night, and then visit the ledger in the morning and register under that sigil, and then you can get your card. It’s really that simple but if you want to have the advantage of these these guild sigils, then you have to go join the guild and be a part of it. And then we have two restricted guild sigils, so priest and mage, and that’s because those are always restricted. So there are a set number of mages, and priests have a specific Set of circumstances they have to meet and be a part of a religion to gain those. So if you do not already have one of those, then you cannot have them. So, that’s how that’s going to work. And then so back up to the starter sigil. So first we have the sigil of the warrior. Those who take that will gain plus one armor during trials, allowing you to withstand one additional hit. Scholar, you can request one direct clue or correction during a trial to clarify information. Politician attempt to negotiate one hostile interaction into neutrality or secure an improved reward outcome. Merchant purchase potions from the archives at half price before trial periods and malefactor once per activation, reduce another squad’s score during a trial. And then onto the guild sigils. Alchemists automatically succeed when crafting a potion during a trial. Thieves instantly bypass one lock, trap, or code, or uncover a hidden clue. Guardians, if wearing your guild tabard, you may respond at the starting point of a trial after 10 seconds, assuming that you have died. And then bards, you grant your squad one additional attempt at a challenge, or you receive a bonus hint. Assassins, before an activation begins, you can remove one player from an opposing squad for that trial. One player, one squad, once per activation, and you do have to follow the assassination rules for that. And then priests, you get to use your healing abilities during the trials, and mages add a magical bonus to a trial’s outcome, such as reducing time in a time trial, or adding points in a scored trial. So choose carefully. OK, questions. About Sigils before we move on to anything else. If you have a question, hit the hand raise react should be at the bottom of your screen.

[28:06] Host: There we go.

[28:08] Host: Dallium.

[28:11] Dallium: Yes. When it says either or, is that once per the entire event or once per trial?

[28:20] Host: It’s one trial.

[28:22] Host: Once per trial.

[28:24] Host: So you’ll get to use it.

[28:26] Host: Once per trial, many times.

[28:31] Dallium: All right, thank you. That was one thing my dyslexia was confusing me on.

[28:31] Host: That is OK.

[28:40] Host: Ryland.

[28:43] Ryland: Oh, he already figured it out. I was trying to boost up Alistair, but he already figured it out. OK, we’re good.

[28:43] Host: No worries, nailed it. Good help.

[28:57] Host: All right, Alistair.

[28:59] Alistair: It was purely because he figured it out that I was able to figure it out. So thank you.

[29:08] Alistair: I do have one logistic one for later, but for the sigils itself, are there any restrictions on purchasing potions for the merchant sigil?

[29:21] Host: Taylor.

[29:25] Taylor: Yes. The merchants will be able to buy only for their squad, and since there is a member of five people in your squad, you’ll get the discount on five potions per trial that you are in.

[29:41] Taylor: So if you guys end up being in four trials, you can buy five for each of those trials. There’s a cap, it’s all explained on your card, and there’s even going to be checkoffs on your card for when you have reached the max amount of your discount uses per trial.

[29:41] Alistair: Awesome. And are we gonna find out a dedicated list of what all the potions are?

[29:41] Host: Yeah, I’ll post something in the addendum.

[29:41] Alistair: Sweet, thank you.

[30:06] Host: Mhm.

[30:10] Host: Jesse.

[30:12] Jesse: I had a question on the mechanic for the politician. If they basically have the ability to reduce something negative that happens, would that only apply to stuff that happens during the trial, such as the malefactor does something to hurt you, or can it apply to something like an assassin takes out one of your team members and you can try to negate that?

[30:34] Taylor: For the politician, there are specific puzzles and things inside of trials, like negotiating with NPCs or negotiating with another person that you’re against in a squad, similar to what you just said.

[30:49] Taylor: Each trial, the politician has different ways that it can act. You will be explained by the trial host what exactly a politician might be able to do.

[31:06] Taylor: On the trial board for the quest signs, you will see recommended sigils for each trial, meaning if you see a trial and it says recommended sigil politician, that means there is something that the politician can do in that trial to role-play a better outcome.

[31:23] Jesse: OK. That also leads into another question I had. In the document, it said that we can change the configuration of our team. So if we wanted to have one configuration for a team early on and then switch to another configuration with different sigils because we think that’ll help us more, and we can’t change sigils as players, is that the mechanic there since we can’t change them individually?

[31:44] Taylor: Yeah. Say you have 10 people in the lodge that want to all do these. You can pick two people as the leaders that make the squad name. That squad name and leader has to stay the same. But say you have two healers, two warriors, some other puzzle folks, and a malefactor. In trial block one, squad leader one signs up for the puzzle trial, so they’re going to take three of the puzzle folks and a malefactor to hopefully up their score against someone else, to bring someone else’s score down.

[32:10] Taylor: Squad leader two signs up for a combat-centered trial and takes all the healers and warriors. Then in trial block two, squad leader one signs up for a mixed trial that has both puzzles and combat, and they’ll take one healer, one warrior, one puzzle person, and one anything. Squad two leader also signs up for a mixed trial. In trial block two, they’ll take the other half of the friends.

[32:34] Taylor: As long as your team stays the same and the leader is in charge of making sure that there are four other people with them at the time and place they said they would be at, you can switch out the people in your team. We’re not going to police that. That’s why that mechanic is in there, because we don’t want you to tell us every time that you switch people. We just want the person attached to the name at the time and place they’re supposed to be, with four people.

[32:58] Jesse: Perfect, thank you so much. I do have one more question, but it’s logistics-based, so I can just wait till the end of all this.

[32:58] Host: OK. Just to also say, Taylor and I decided that if somebody in your squad can’t do the whole event, gets too tired, drinks too much on Friday night, or whatever, your whole squad doesn’t miss out and you guys can bring in substitutes.

[33:24] Taylor: Yeah, if we made you stay with your locked people for the entire time and someone twists their ankle, we don’t want you to miss out on the fun just because of that.

[33:24] Host: Yep.

[33:33] Host: All right. Attendee, question?

[33:37] Attendee (name unclear): Will there be trials for teams that are entirely noncombatant, or will all the trials have some combat?

[33:45] Host: There will be a mix in every trial period. In every trial block, there are four different trials to choose from. It’s essentially one that’s all puzzle, one that’s all battle, and two that are mixed.

[33:58] Attendee (name unclear): OK, cool.

[34:00] Host: Yeah.

[34:02] Host: Kai.

[34:04] Kai: All right, so there’s more of a question, but I’m a thief and an assassin.

[34:11] Kai: How does that work for the trial?

[34:11] Host: You have to pick one.

[34:20] Host: And you have to be registered in that guild.

[34:20] Kai: I’m an assassin registered. I’m also a thief registered.

[34:20] Host: But you just have to pick one.

[34:20] Kai: I think I’ll do the first one just because it’s something that I’ve been doing.

[34:20] Host: Yeah, but that’s totally up to you.

[34:20] Kai: That’s all I had, so cool.

[34:20] Host: No problem.

[34:44] Host: All righty.

[34:48] Host: Any other questions on sigils? It is different. It is new. It is something we’ve never done before. We think it’ll be very fun. It should give you guys a lot of scheming and strategizing to do as you make your way through the trials.

[35:03] Host: Adalian.

[35:06] Adalian: Just a quick question: should we keep the cards? Is this something that we might be seeing again in future events?

[35:06] Host: Who knows?

[35:15] Host: Keep it.

[35:17] Host: It’ll be fun. Maybe we’ll bust it out again, and if you still have your card, you get a prize. I don’t know.

[35:23] Host: Taylor, should they keep their cards?

[35:23] Taylor: They are your property as soon as we give them to you. Unlike coins and cards from the bank, you can take your essentials home.

[35:35] Host: Yes.

[35:37] Host: All righty.

[35:39] Host: All right talked about forming a squad but just to reiterate squads are for groups of 5, and then you can change your squads between blocks of desired. Again, you don’t have to run that by us, you don’t have to come to the archives or the ledger or anything like that, just the leader and the name must remain the same. We would love, love, love, love, love if you could register your squad here at this handy dandy link. Before the event that will help us plan out and make sure we have lots and lots and lots of sigil cards ready to go, and there’s also some questions on there about you know, your preferences so make sure that you do that if you can. Alistair.

[36:25] Host: Looks like Kyle has a question for us. If you click the react button, it’s like the heart, and then there’s a lower hand or raised hand.

[36:35] Attendee: Yeah.

[36:36] Kyle: Oh, is it just in the chat?

[36:38] Host: What’s your question, Kyle? Go ahead and type it in the chat if we can’t find you.

[36:44] Host: If we can unmute you.

[36:51] Kyle: I just tore everything. I’m sorry.

[36:53] Host: That’s OK.

[36:55] Host: That’s what this is for.

[36:59] Host: I’m having a hard time finding Kyle, but I am looking.

[37:04] Host: Their profile picture is a white dog. Found you.

[37:10] Host: Kyle, I hit the unmute thing there, so if you want to just accept that.

[37:15] Host: There you go. Can you hear me?

[37:15] Kyle: Yeah.

[37:15] Kyle: Wonderful. OK, sorry. Anyway, it has to do with alchemy.

[37:28] Kyle: What kind of potions will be available for purchase? Will there be ingredients for sale too? And do you have to know the recipe and have ingredients to make the potions?

[37:28] Host: Great question.

[37:43] Taylor: Alchemy has a mini-game that can be played throughout the entire time. That mini-game is 10 lockboxes, where you’re going to get tokens that represent alchemy ingredients, and then you can trade those in for alchemy potions, and that is related to the guild and the guild activities.

[38:03] Taylor: What the alchemy sigil does in the game is this: there will be puzzles that require taking a couple parts of a puzzle, mixing it together to make a potion. There are a couple of trials that have that mechanic in it.

[38:24] Taylor: If you are an alchemist, instead of going through the three steps in the puzzle to get the potion, you can say, ‘Hey, I’m an alchemist. Can I say that I’ve solved this part of this potion because it says within my alchemy card that I can?’ Then we go, ‘Great, here’s the finished potion,’ and you can continue the trial. So that’s what it is for in the trial. Show the host that is running the trial your alchemy card beforehand so they can prep to give you that potion when it is time for you to create it. But how the alchemy games work inside the trial is different than the alchemy mini-game, which you can go play in between trials.

[38:53] Kyle: OK, and I’ve got a second question. I don’t know if we’ve gotten there yet. Do the trials scale in importance as the day goes on, or do the beginning trials matter more than the succeeding trials?

[38:53] Taylor: All trials matter equal amount.

[39:11] Kyle: All right.

[39:14] Host: Sweet. Anything else, Kyle?

[39:14] Kyle: No, that’s it.

[39:14] Host: Cool, man. Glad we could find you in your picture of your adorable dog.

[39:14] Kyle: Oh, appreciate it.

[39:14] Host: Yeah.

[39:26] Host: All righty. And then so we talked about forming a squad. Do fill out the registration form for your squad there. And then we have a note here about how established house members. So if you are coming to the events and you are open and available to leading a squad of people that you do not know. So this will help people that are new. We will have lots of new people, just like we always do. And if you want to help them through the trials, we will give your house a renown point for your efforts. We have some requirements here, so we want, you’ll obviously attend the squad formation table meeting, come to that during the time, and then we will help put people on your squad. And then obviously you have to tell us tell somebody working the table, and then you need to share all the treasure, coin, and resources gained throughout the trials evenly with all members so that you’re not just leading new people for your own financial gain, cause that would be not cool. And then lead your squad for the duration of the event for all the trial blocks, and then, of course, be an awesome example of leadership to the people in your squad. So we do need people to do that it will be lots of fun for you. You will get to meet new people you will probably make friends, and I bet you would even have an opportunity to invite them to join your house afterwards, so you could really gain some new members and make some friends, and really help out new people.

[40:58] Host: Brynn, question?

[41:06] Brynn: I have a question about this house leader thing. Can the renown points go to a religion if someone from a specific religion wants to do this?

[41:19] Host: I don’t have a problem with that, yeah, 100%.

[41:23] Brynn: Yeah, cool. Easy peasy.

[41:26] Host: All righty. Now next the opening skirmish and quest priority. So Saturday we’ll begin with a competitive skirmish that will determine your squad’s priority tier for signing up for quest activations. Higher tier squads choose their time slots first and lower tier. Squads choose after. So all squads contribute equally to the outcome of the trials. Priority tiers exist only to manage signups and ensure fair access to activations. Tier selection will occur immediately after skirmish one. So essentially, your reward for doing very well in skirmish one is that you get to pick and choose. Which activations you will do during the course of the day for the trials first, but everybody will have a chance. There’s plenty of time for everybody to go through it. It’s just a matter of planning out your day. So that’s how that will work. And then the quest activation blocks. So throughout Saturday, quests will run in structured 2 hour blocks. During each block, multiple quest activations will run at the same time, so there’s lots going on. Each activation lasts approximately 10 minutes. Squads sign up for a time slot based on their tier, like we just described. When your time arrives, please report to the activation location with your full squad. As you can imagine, there’s going to be a lot of people, and it’s going to move very quickly, so you need to be there on time with your full squad. If your squad is not present at your scheduled time, one of two things will occur. The activation will begin without you, and your timer will already be running, or your squad will be skipped, and the activation marked as a failure. So make sure that you come unclaimed time slots may be open to public sign up after the initial selection, so we might just bump the next person up to get more people through but in the end, please be punctual. There are squads who are scheduled behind you. So, and obviously lots of these activations, I think the vast majority of them are all being run by houses who have volunteered their time so do your fellow denizens a solid and show up. And then when you are not in a timed activation. You may complete your court quest, so there’s still a court quest going on. You can participate in guild mini games, you can complete all day quests from the archives, right? So those quests will still always start and end at the archives. You can watch or compete in the scheduled tournaments, or you can prepare for your next trial. So. Some activities will allow every squad to participate at the same time. Others may be competitive events open to all who wish to enter. Even if you are not competing, you are encouraged to attend and support your allies, and the trials will move all over the site, right? So there will be things all over the place. The big idea here is that there’s lots and lots to do. There’s more to do than you can possibly do, and there is going to be plenty of downtime to rest. Recover and prepare for the next trial, you will, you know, you do not have to be every 10 minutes on the minute doing a trial the whole time. There’s lots and lots of time for that. And then onto rewards. So, every squad that completes a trial will receive rewards, which may include copper, resources, or other benefits within the CAA. In addition, the top performing squad in each activation will receive an additional award. This may include special items needed for the closing ceremony, unique relic components bonus advantages for the final skirmish, and additional CAA rewards. Any questions on any of that before we move on?

[45:05] Host: Taylor, anything you want to add about that section?

[45:08] Taylor: No, but I’m happy to answer any questions if anyone needs.

[45:16] Taylor: The only thing to add is to think about the fact that the games are 10 minutes. So it is possible that you can do one trial in time slot 10, the second trial in time slot 10:15, the third trial 10:30, and the fourth trial 10:45.

[45:34] Taylor: That gives you essentially an hour of trialing that still leaves you an hour of break. So don’t worry if those trial blocks are right next to each other with food. There’s time to eat. There’s time when you’re not going to be in a trial. There’s time for you to stretch your legs, go to the bathroom, and eat. You shouldn’t be pressed for time, even though the schedule looks really tight.

[45:54] Host: Sweet.

[45:55] Host: And then the fate of the spear, so all trials throughout the day contribute to the final outcome of the fate of the spear. Points earned throughout the day accumulate toward the final decision. At the end of the trial, squads will be asked a final question. How you answer places your earned points behind that decision. The realm itself will decide which ending comes to pass. Choose your path carefully. And then archives and trial items. So during the trials, the archives will offer a limited number of magical items designed specifically for use inside quest activations, and the second skirmish. The most notable of these is the Last stand potion. Which allows a fallen player to return to play during a trial without requiring a priest. This potion may only be used during quest activations and does not override standard battlefield rules outside of trials. There are purchase limits so you are limited to one use per person per questing trial block and unlimited potion uses are allowed in skirmish too. However note that repeated potion use in a short duration during a trial block leads to alchemical fatigue. So plan accordingly with your squad. Any questions on any of that? Oh, cool. And then archives hours during the during trials, so they’ll be open 30 minutes before each trial block and then remain open during said trial block. So if you believe your squad may need additional preparation, make sure you arrive early. Once activations begin, the time will be limited. The archives may close during large scale battles and all squad activations just because nobody’s there to buy anything, you’re all participating. Choose wisely, preparation can mean the difference between success and failure. And then of course, we’ve said this a couple of times, but more information on what will be purchasable will be posted in the addendum closer to the expedition date.

[48:04] Host: All right. And if anybody has any questions at anytime, feel free to hit the thing. I’m just gonna keep on going then. And then we have our guild activities. These are the same as every other event so we’ve kind of fallen into a nice rhythm there. . If you have questions, you want to join one of these come to the meeting on Friday, and your guild leader will be there, and they will be happy to answer your questions and tell you how you can join, especially if you want to take that sigil. There is a full guilds at expeditions document here on how they work specifically at expeditions, cause they’re kind of pared down a little bit. So that is all there, and then we will have more information on evening activities coming soon. And then same thing with the skirmishes for the trial. So there’s a little bit of descriptor here but as we discussed, skirmish one, will determine your quest activation priority tier for the day so as you complete the objectives in that skirmish against other squads, that will open that up. And then in skirmish two, squads will divide up based on their ranking from having completed trials into 4 teams. So the leaders of each side will be the top 4 ranking squads. Other squads will be placed on sides depending on their rankings and trial decisions. So bum, you will most likely be paired up with squads that you don’t normally fight alongside. So, good luck with that. So we’ll have full details on how those will work coming out closer to the event, and then in lieu of traditional skirmish purchases the archives will have the potion shop. And then we have the tournament rules for sharpshooter. So if you are an archer and want to show us how amazing you are, then take a look at those rules. You can register beforehand. We would love it if you did. That will help us a ton. We have a little note here on baseball, and then last but not least, we have a pre-event checklist. And that is the codex. We have a handy dandy site map, new map updated, looks pretty cool. So this is the site, this is where you drive in, this is the check-in booth, and then you head here to parking, over here to non-decorum, and up here to Decorum Camping. And then we have Rocco’s on here for now for our one food vendor, but like I said, we are very close to getting all the details for a AM brunch breakfast vendor, which will be very exciting. OK, final questions. Some of you said you have logistics questions, let’s do them.

[50:54] Attendee: I asked this question last time and because Sherwood Fair hadn’t started yet, the answer was no, but my camper is over at my campground in Sherwood. Will I be able to go through the back gate into participant camping of Sherwood, being a participant myself, since I’m actually a participant this year, or is that still a hard no and we need to drive around?

[51:17] Host: We don’t have a good way for you to get to the property from it.

[51:17] Kai: No.

[51:17] Attendee: OK, it’s an easy answer. Thank you.

[51:17] Host: Yeah.

[51:17] Attendee: I’ll just make sure I park in a smart place this time.

[51:17] Host: Sweet.

[51:36] Host: All right, Alistair.

[51:38] Alistair: You mentioned the tickets this time are gonna be scannable. At the front gate last time it was a little tricky pulling up the email. Is it actually scannable this time?

[51:38] Host: We are still working on that. It has been a bit of a snafu, so we’re working on it. If you have your ID, we can look you up. We will make sure it happens. But we are working with the ticket vendor to get them to be scannable.

[52:06] Alistair: And then the other part: I’d definitely like to do the archery thing. I know we had a conversation last time about my arrows, which won’t be usable here. What’s the best way I could get new arrows that are approved?

[52:18] Host: They will be for sale at the emporium there.

[52:18] Alistair: OK, cool, thank you.

[52:18] Host: Yeah, we’ll have plenty of arrows, no problem.

[52:29] Host: All right.

[52:32] Host: Bryn.

[52:35] Bryn: Speaking of tickets, I purchased the March ticket and then purchased the one-for-all ticket after. So they’re both under my name or my character name, and I’m bringing a friend. When I bring that friend, can I just tell them, ‘Hey, this is my friend. I have an extra ticket. I’m giving it to this person?’

[52:35] Host: Yeah, no problem.

[52:35] Bryn: OK, awesome.

[52:59] Host: Yep, easy peasy.

[53:03] Host: Anyone else? Questions about anything at all?

[53:03] Alistair: Sorry, last question. We know we mentioned having a cool little log or something that we’re gonna commemorate, breaking ground, for the people that volunteered out there. Did we ever figure out when and how that’s gonna happen?

[53:03] Host: Han is working on that.

[53:27] Host: So we’ll have to get back to you and we’ll have a thing. We’ll make sure that everybody that was there has a chance to take part in that.

[53:37] Host: Great question.

[53:41] Host: All righty.

[53:44] Host: Kelsey.

[53:49] Kelsey: Hi, I’m wondering if there’s going to be a Discord chat for March, just in case people do want to connect about squads or chat about life or March-related things.

[54:04] Host: Is there not one? There is one. There’s a general chat for March under the March category that anyone that has the March tag in their roles should be able to communicate in.

[54:18] Kelsey: Copy that. Thank you.

[54:18] Host: You’re welcome.

[54:26] Host: Anybody else? Questions?

[54:30] Host: Comments, concerns, rude thoughts.

[54:34] Host: Going once.

[54:38] Host: Stefan.

[54:40] Stefan: I just want to say y’all are killing it. This is fun. I’m excited for the questing adventure. We’re loving the mechanics of this, and shout out to everybody.

[54:40] Host: Awesome, man. I appreciate it.

[54:54] Host: Jade Tornapuka.

[54:59] Jade Tornapuka: Yeah, I got a rude comment. I’m just kidding. I love you.

[55:07] Jade Tornapuka: That’s it.

[55:11] Host: OK.

[55:13] Host: All right, everyone. OK, Fanning.

[55:19] Fanning: Can I ask a question about something—

[55:25] Fanning: the rituals that happened at GG and the effect that they’re supposed to have—or do I need to wait till I’m in person?

[55:33] Host: If it’s about a specific one—

[55:36] Host: If you’re just waiting to hear a 30-minute ritual, let’s hang out here. I’m happy to answer that.

[55:45] Host: In the main chat room before we go into breakout rooms, if you want.

[55:50] Fanning: OK, I’d like that. Cool. Thank you.

[55:50] Host: No problem.

[55:59] Host: All righty, going once, going twice, sold on questions. Thanks for being here, y’all. Love you lots. Excited to see you in March. We will have a couple more Zoom calls between now and then, so hopefully I’ll see your faces. We’re gonna do breakout rooms now, but excited to see you guys in a couple weeks.
